Professional Engineering Certification
Professional Engineers (PE) are engineers who are licensed. Obtaining a PE license in Michigan requires:
Four years of relevant work experience.
A four-year bachelor's degree from a college engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
Successful completion of both parts of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (www.ncees.org) exams: "Part I: Fundamentals of Engineering" and "Part II: Principles and Practice of Engineering."
Engineers should be vigilant about maintaining their education level. It is important for engineers to continue their education throughout their careers because much of their value to their employers depends on their knowledge of the latest technology.
